Okay, before you start, you need to have a few beforehand preparations.
Create a new folder (I suggest for you to do it in your video folder)
Next, download a video into the folder that you just created. And most of all, you must have GAP.
Now, on with the tut!!!

In this tut, we're going to make this:

From this vid:
http://www.blogtelev...1,2,,17142.html

1) When you boot up gimp, go to: Xtns > Split video into frames > Extract video

2) You should get the following screen. Also, consider the screen below it before you fill out the first one.

Input your video file into the designated areas, and set 'autotrack' to zero. DO NOT SET YOUR FRAMES YET. Now, select the video range button, and you'll get the following screen.

3) Press the play button, and locate the frames you want to use. Input those frames into the 'from frame' and the 'to frame' category.
From frame = the frame you want your gif to start on.
To frame = the frame you want your gif to stop on.

4) Select to 'loop' and 'play selection on' boxes. Now click the play button again, and you should see the gif you desire to make. (emo kid)

5) Input those same numbers in the same section on the other side of the screen (my first pic), then click OK.

6) After the load, go to: Video > Frames to images.
You should get the following screen.

7) Make sure the 'from frame' bar is all the way to the left, and the 'to frame' bar is all the way to the right. Then select OK.

8) You will now get a new screen. All you have to do now is save it as a gif, and you're finished.

NOW WASN'T THAT THE EASIEST TUT EVAR!!! ONE11ONE11ONE11ONE11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, you may ask. "Hey, DBJ, why don't you show some other results."
Well little Billy, I would, but the first one I made (this is my second) is 17.8mb, and my Ripway account is currently locked, so be patient... !

On another note, when you're using alot of frames, it will take a long time for it to load. (It's transfered from frames to layers.) This causes them to be in a big file. That's why the gif I made for this tut (21 layers) is short. I'll hopefully be able to show a longer result (305 layers).

The funny thing is, it took me about an hour and a half to figure out. I remembered what I learned about .xcf files and new folders from Curly's video tut, so all I had to do was actually figure out how to do the frames to images. I tried storyboard, but that didn't work. So I gave up, got on Gimp again after an hour, and figured out how to do it in about 3 minutes. :a:

@Tunnel Lord: I just downloaded it tonight. :w: Here's what I did:

1. I went here: http://gimp-win.sour...net/stable.html went down the page to "additional packages", and clicked "select mirror" for GIMP Animation Package.

2. I picked a local region and clicked its download button.

3. I downloaded it to my Desktop

4. I opened the zip file and opened the .exe file

5. Follow the instructions in the .exe thing and you're done! :h:

Try using storyboard. I don't know if it'll work, too lazy to check.

Fantastic! It worked like a charm the very first time! GAP stuff usually takes a couple of times to figure out
how I screwed up. This tut worked immediately AND helped me figure out something I was trying to do!

Bravo!
