i was muckin about and somehow managed to get this:

Posted Image

my first tut! :w: (its surprising easy, no matter how good it may look :l:

ok, i started off with a 500 X 500 canvas, it can be any size, but make sure its square (unless you want your ring to be squashed or squeezed :c:)

Posted Image

then, fill the entire canvas with something, can be a colour, pattern, gradient, i dont care and it doesn't matter, it makes no difference anyhow

Posted Image

then go to filters -> map -> map object, flick it to sphere and make sure transparent background is ticked, again, the rest of the settings dont matter :w:

Posted Image

ok, now, go to script-fu -> alpha to logo -> neon and leave the settings as they are (effect size 150, background white, glow black)

Posted Image

then go to dialogues -> layers and delete the white layer (the one that is called background [or should be]) and then merge the remaining two layers
you should now have a white ring, with a black glow, on a transparent background, now go to filters -> distorts -> emboss and use the settings below

Posted Image

now your inside white ring, should be a gradient white - black - white around where it was, heres the cool part:
go to script-fu -> render -> lava and use the settings in the picture (gradient can be ANY gradient, but incandescent works best for the 'evil' look)

Posted Image

you should now get 'ze eebil ring!'

comments welcome, remember, experiment with different gradients (for the lava effect) and different emboss settings

hope you like it! :l:

and i bet theres an easier way to do it, but i dont know it lol
