So I've been having this maddening problem. For some reason script-fu refuses to work on my vista box, yet when I run GIMP in a VM, it works perfectly fine. Anyone have any idea on what's going on?

This is GIMP 2.6.8.

What do you mean by "refuses to work"?

i'm saying that even basic commands like (+ 3 5) generates no response in the console in windows, but in linux it works perfectly fine.

The screenshot suggests that the command typed into Windows Script-fu console was "(+3 5)" -- with no space between the plus sign and the three. This space is necessary else the command is interpreted as a call to a (non-existent) "+3" function, rather than a call to the addition function.

Try performing "Filters->Script-fu->Refresh scripts" and see if any errors are reported.
