Heya guys, I'm Walrus, the new co-admin of Team New Nation. Here's mah spiel:

Teams have gotten quite inactive as the years progress. No new battles have taken place in a while, and when they do, no one votes on them. As of now, we have quite a few teams:

Serenity Graphics
Dark Concepts
Narcissistic Graphics
Team New Nation
Team FTW!
Sick Concepts (soap is inactive so should we even count this one?)

Many ideas have been brought up to make teams seem more active and keep the GFX team system organized

Merging teams together
Team battles
Teams stepping down
Posting teams on other forums to get battle opportunities, etc.

I'd like your opinion on what we can do about these teams. KTHXBAI!

I think merging teams would be a good idea. People could also go onto other graphics forums suggesting for people to join GimpTalk and do team battles.

I guess merging would be alright, but team names and stuff would be hard because of each wanting their own name kept.

Did we really ever count "Sick Concepts" (Or whatever name on earth soap called it last) as a team? I mean, they did nothing, period. and never really held a member. (Besides Jassie)

I personally do not want to merge my team due to the fact that i'd rather keep it small, and this Saviour and i agreed with from the very first PM we had when we decided to create DC.

I actually don't like the idea of merging teams myself, but rather... I dunno, no team wants to step down but hardly any of them are active anymore. sadface.

Not saying we should merge, just that it's a choice.
Personally, I think having 2-3 big teams that are active is better then having 5-6 small teams that do nothing.

What? We recruited about 10 people on the team when Dark Concepts was new. Merging teams would probably bring us somewhere close to this figure again.

We don't need new names. The team could just be Dark Concepts/Serenity Graphics, for example. And I don't think there'd be major protests on getting new userbars.

And btw, Sick Concepts is out. Soap disbanded the team himself.

No, that's sort of unfair. Either the combined names, or a new name entirely imo.

Great ideas brought up here and I'm sure a few of these have been discussed in team forums, for the one about other sites not all people want to move sites and have a 2 site team. Also about the merging, I think it is a good idea, but it should be optional, i feel that members of our team have made it for reasons, merging would only distrupt that, as well as other things such as admins, would the members care that each new team has 2 completly new admins with it as well?

Why'll I'm happy i can say, I believe every team is doing role calls let us clear inactive people out first, then either a few team could merge if all members agree, i think that this shouldn't be a decision for admins alone, but also just step back, look at their situation, see whats best for the team, and maybe open recruiting again.

Maybe to get the teams more active we should hold some big tourney that a team originizes (some kind of cup) for DC for example, hosts a Concepts of the Dark cup or w/e where all teams join and winner gets a trophy, then maybe 6 months later do it again :) Also if you want people to vote give them an incentive, get some good resources or psds, and if your team isn't battling, do other teams a favor and vote! they need your help.

edit: Also one thing I hate so much about this site is the weird ways of battling, teams members go one vs one? Points systems. What?! a true measure of a teams skill is together, what just happened to the nice and plain 4vs4 put your sigs on a tag wall and vote? It seems this site has become to complex and overly sophisticated in its voting methods :)

Teams just need to let go of inactive members. I know its a hard thing to do, esspecially if you ;wub those people. Also, I think a good starting point would be to merge two teams. Serenity and DC for example (Hint hint. :'D), and the others.

I'm all for this, because the teams are really inactive and don't do anything. And if some teams don't want to merge - let them be. They'll die of sooner or later. XD

I think it was called SC last :| And I dont really think I could be counted as an active member..I never really did/and not really doing anything currently.So yea..I guess it was more at an attempt at a team.If we could have gotten more members we would have definitely tried to do more though :p And btw.Thanks for spelling my name right.Most of the time when someone out of the blue spells my name they end up spelling it as Jassi, Jas, or Jessie :/

I dont think he actually disbanded the team.He even made a forum for the team to try to recruit more members.However imo it takes someone whos great at graphics to make a successful team.Or at least someone whos great to help recruit.Or at least thats my opinion on why we failed as a team :p We never really had anyone who was original with their sigs and we didnt have anyone who 'wowed' people with their art.And no one wants to join a team that isnt original.

Anyways since Im not part of a team my opinion on any of this cant be counted but maybe if there was actually some kind of a reward for being on a team, winning team VS team battles, and just battles period then people would actually be more active in the teams.Im not talking about cash or anything like that.But something like PR with points..But then that brings in another problem of what you would with them.

Or there could be official team rankings that could be based on team win/losses?

Edit:And I would be more then happy to try to help a team be more active but as far as skill in art..Atm I wouldnt be able to help there.

Pretty far fetched, but woulnldnt it be cool to just... Have 2 teams? Interesting when you think about it, There would be a pretty good rivalry and both of them would definetely be pretty active. It used to be something like this but then everyone wanted to be a leader and wen off creating their own teams, and we were left with like 6 inactive ones. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents.

I vote 3 teams, actually. The Narcissists want to be left alone, and DC may (i dunno). Seems like the only ones wanting to merge are TNN and Serenity, and i have no clue what Team FTW! says abot this. and 3 is my lucky number and the first number in 30 rock (:
