Also, this can only be accessed through the control panel, I'm not " authorized" if I do it through the forum.
EDIT: Okay, also, I go to a thread that is...let's say 20 pages long, if I want to go to the end I can't. If I click page jump, I enter my number and then after pressing the button I get an error. And if I hit the 20 by the page jump button it will just take me a couple pages up, not all 20. This really bothers me, and with the insane 100+ page things I some times go to the only way I can do this without losing my mind is to go back to the board, and click on the little numbers under the title on the forum. This can get irritating when I'm entering gimptalk via E-mail notifications.

my lil siblings like browsing this site looking at pictures :P (after watchin me make stuff they wanna see everyone else's) and it hasnt happened yet, but if they run into one of those posts accidently, I could get a perma grounding from this site :P and that would kinda suk

Just two minor things from me.
First when I hit the back button of my browser when I want to go back to a forum thread list page I often get a "this page has expired" screen. Maybe it's me though, but it can be annoying.
Second one is about a phpbb default setting for making links in the forum not open a new browser window or tab, but open in the browser tab itself. You'll lose your gimptalk tab that way and if you browse further it's hard to go back to the page you were. We had the same thing happen on the forum I co-run and it can be changed, but my friend did it so can't say how exactly. Think she got the solution from the phpbb website or the forum they have.
Nothing that bothers me a lot, but you asked. :)

Also, I think there needs to be more forums. Like a Render Part to the forum. So it would work out like so:
Show of a render
Request a render,
etc.
Just a few ideas.

Complaints:
- Those really big signatures really annoy me. Some people have up to 3 images. And that takes a lot of space. I already made something for those, but I still wanted to mention it. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=39430
- "Art Galleries" link in the menu redirects to the forum. Should be removed.

1 A form to fill when posting new topic in the help forum
(form will simply ask for the OS and the version of Gimp used)
No need to oblige to fill it, just have to include a warning:
without that basic info much less hope to get useful replies
2 The second request is for a board for Video Tutorial
Quote
I do not think will solve seems easy for a spammer automatically hit 50 or more topics, while seems a nuisance for new user (as new user i will not accept such request, and will be a visitor less...as spammer i will let my script hit even 1000 topic, no problem)
I think that a Captha when registering and the control by a mod of the very first message (just a look..if check is ok then the message will become visible as any other future message from same user ) may solve the problem at least at 99%

If you wanted to request a render, you would go here.
If you wanted comments for a render you made, I think most people post them here.
I don't REALLY see the sense in creating a whole new forum for this, since thats a whole forum we have to moderate.
Maybe sub-forum in the respective areas? I don't know. Just my two cents.
I third the video tutorial section.
"- "Art Galleries" link in the menu redirects to the forum. Should be removed. "
I also have had that problem for a long time. I tried asking about it but no replies. :P

A lot of people use the New Post function to quickly scan for new entries. so when you reach the end of the post you can jump to the previous or next topic without having to go back to the title page or scroll all the way up to use the buttons

So i guess i fourth the video tuts.
And the ads are annoying but i guess thats how you fund the site. Also i think we should have a most popular tutorials section. i get tired of having to dig through pages and pages of boring tuts to find the really awesome one i want to read.

Captcha, as PhotoComix suggested, would be a great addition to the site. Seriously, if my parents ever saw one of those bad topic titles, I'd never be allowed on this site again. And that would be a huge bummer. There has to be something we could do.
Also, I think a major overhaul of the GimpTalk look in general would be cool. The skins remained like this for how long? It seems bland - boring. Not to mention the brightness hurts my eyes. Adding a nicer cleaner skin would be awesome. I could help with that as well.
Just a couple that I have, I'll probably post some later. :)

As for complaints, I only have a minor one. The site seems to have slow loading times and be offline too often. It would be nice if this issue could be somehow fixed. Other than that, I have no complaints.
Some suggestions that I have:
-Create a separate area for video tutorials, and/or integrate embedded videos into the site so that people can post them directly in the tutorials section.
-Have official GT competitions and other events where the winners are featured in the GT Newsletter.
That is really all that I can think of at the moment, however, if I happen to develop more suggestions or ideas, I will post them here. :)
Thanks for the thread Ali, I think the GT community finally feels like it is being heard.
Cheers,
-Frank

- Another thing I would suggest is the inconsistency with the servers. Good hosting that will manage the traffic size isn't hard to find and can be relatively cheap too.
- One last thing for me would be the skin. This website looks like its very old and could use a new look. Something more aesthetically appealing where content is navigable. User accessibility I think could use alot of work. I find the advertisement very distracting on this site. Perhaps a new look with the layout could resolve these issues. You would've have the same number of advertisement links but arranged differently.
I strongly believe that this is a very good community not only for GIMP users but for users of other software/platforms. From developers to designers. Every single time I drop by, I see more and more people moving on and I don't think that's good for any community.
...That's my two cents on the improvements of this site.

A video tutorial forum would be cool, and so would a new skin. And i third (or fourth? i dunno) wolverine's idea of a tut of the month/year.
