Hey I wanted to give this a try, but even though I downloaded that brush pack you linked to, I have no idea what vine brush you're talking about in the beginning there. :/

Tried it without it... and it didn't end well. XD

The vine brush is one of the default GIMP brushes, like the pepper and fireball one.
By the way, nice tutorial ;)
