CREATING POTIONS IN GIMP
-----
1. Create a new image, 400 X 400.
-----
2. Rename your background layer "Container" and add 3 transparency layers and rename them "Liquid", "Cork" and "Top".
-----
3. Now with the "Container" layer selected, go to Filters >> Map >> Map Objejct and set the settings like this:

leave the "Orientation" tab "Rotation" settings all zeroes
-----
4. Now go to Filters >> Colors >> Color To Alpha, and click on the white box, now in the Html Notation box type in b7b7b7.

Now for a better effect, duplicate your "Container" layer and merge it down.
your image should look like this so far:

-----
5. Now Select your "Liquid" layer and grab your "Rectangle Selection" tool (Tools >> Selection Tools >> Rect Select) and select about two thirds of your "Container", mine is 246 pixles high (MAKE SURE YOUR SELECTION COVERS THE ENTIRE WIDTH OF THE IMAGE!!!), like this:

Fill the selection with the color you want your liquid to be, again, make sure your "Liquid" layer is selected.
-----
6. Deselect your layer (Select >> None). Now go to Filters >> Map >> Map Objects, and set the settings like in step 3, but in the "Orientation" tab, set the "Z" in "Rotation" to 9.0 like this:

Your picture should now look like this:

-----
7. Now select your "Top" layer and fill it with solid white, Repeat step 3 but instead of "Map To: Sphere" drop down and select "Map To: Cylinder". Set Theese settings:

Now repeat step 4 with your "Top" layer.
Your image should now look like this:

-----
8.Okay, now we are almost done! Select your "Cork" layer and take a dark-yellow-orange color, for example, try #d29900. fill your whole "Cork" layer with it and Go to Filters >> Map >> Map Object and "Map to Cylinder" with theese setings:

-----
9. Congratulations! you are done!!! Lets add the final touches:
Put the layers in this order (top to bottom) :
"Top"
"Cork"
"Container"
"Liquid"
-----
10. It should look fairly realistic now. this is my result:
