Pixkid had asked in the General Help section if one could make an animated circle progress indicator with Gimp. The possibilities for such an animation are truly endless and limited only by your imagination. The idea stuck with me, and having some extra time today (being ill), I went ahead and made one type:

I want to give a mention to LIMN from these forums. I used LIMN's recent vector scripts multiple times in making this animation.

The animation is assembled in GAP (I definitely would not want to do something like this manually), and uses animated layer masks. Overall, developing this animation took around 4 hours. And to think it all plays out in just a few seconds.

:w:

Thank you for checking out this animation.

pixkid@macmini~$ open -a Gimp.app
bash: you want fries with that
pixkid@macmini~$ echo No thank you, I am on a diet.
bash: you make me feel unloved with your excuses
pixkid@macmini~$ echo What? Are you insinuating that I do not eat your food? When did shells ever execute commands relevant to cooking?
bash: shells duh ever think of seafood
pixkid@macmini~$ echo No fair, stop searching puns, you have Lynx and Google to use!
bash: ugh you humans are so annoying
bash: logout

That is one of your best animations. Are there any plans for a tutorial?

Thanks for the responses everyone.

@ClayOgre Sorry, I don't have any plans to do a tutorial on this animation specifically, but I will keep it in mind. I may do a tutorial later this year on animated layer masking, which is a main element in this animation.
