Hi, I just made available GIMPVS on sourceforge.net:
The entire GTK+ and GIMP (and dependencies) are compiled using Microsoft Visual Studios 2005 and 2008
As a bonus of the installation and implementation choice , GIMPVS can run from an USB.
Install GIMPVS once on an USB drive, Create anywhere!

The developper SDK is being extended and will be soon available, coming with ready to compile
plug ins examples
A first look at the SDK can be found at:
http://gimp-vs.sourc...Start_Guide.php

Feel free to give GIMPVS a try at :
http://gimp-vs.sourceforge.net

Downloads are available for both Desktop and USB versions.

Thanks, good to see people putting work into making GIMP more accessible ^_^

I will have to take a look later though, but is it much different to the version found on portableapps.com?

I didn't compare GIMPVS yet to Gimp Portable yet: the SDK makes
the major difference developping GIMPVS plugins and GTK apllications
-check the screenshot from the Developper Quick Start Page , the original
code compiles unmodidfied - from Visual Studio (Express editions included)
is an unprecendently seen feature :)

The versions 1.1 will come soon with pyGTK (pyCairo amo) to let
GIMPVS use pyhon plugins (under developement right now)

@Pierre RF Barthe

this is a double post and while this new fit well in the Resource Board, is not a help request and is out of place in this help board.

Instead the new may be of interest in the Script and Plugin Board, if recompiled a not just a clone

As example with the answer to few question as the one i asked above...more of less the following

why may be useful a GimpVS ,
who may be interest to use it
and why
peculiarity (was build with VS,...well consequences , pro and limit of this ..)

This also for the SDK...why may be needed a new SDK ?
Basically a SDK is used to create plugin , correct?
and then plugin created with this SDK will be compatible with "standard" Gimp?
And the other way around ?

Hi Photocomix
Thanks for inquiry
The GTKVS SDK is setup to provide Visual Studio solutions
to the GTK+ framework.
As a subpart of this , Gimp plug-ins examples and Solution templates
for Visual Studio are going to be made available .

I really can't tell yet if it will be safe to use non GIMPVS plugins binaries
with other implementations or other implementations plugins with gimpvs
and won't support this right now.

With plug-ins Solutions templates and samples , the only minimum
requirement is to get Visual Studio VC++ Express Editions
- 2008 Edition is available at: http://www.microsoft.com/express -
or above (Professional or Team Editions)

The SDK will be available very soon now
