When I attempt to open a PDF file in the latest Gimp, I am seeing the following error:
Error starting Ghostscript. Make sure that Ghostscript is installed and - if necessary - use the environment variable GS_PROG to tell GIMP about its location.
(Failed to execute child process (No such file or directory))

How do I setup Ghostscript to make this work?

Have you installed ghostscript?

If not, then I would search google for it then download it. GIMP should hopefully detect it, though if not then post here again for help.

It turns out that [GhostScript 8.60] needs to be in your path. Also a environment variable needs to be created for {GS_PROG: C:/Program Files (x86)/gs/gs8.60/bin/gswin32c.exe}.

@ PPNSteve:

Note sure it's the best option, though what I do to save messing about is use Scribus to open a EPS then export as a PDF or SVG file and open in GIMP.

I started nosing around and found that when i create a user and a system variable it worked, versus just a system variable
