This tutorial will show you an easy way to fill up a layer with the sparks brush. This tutorial, although shown as a sig, is mainly to save time on larger pieces. You can use this tutorial for any brush really, I chose to examplify the sparks brush because of its versitility and popularity.

First off, make sure Sparks is your selected brush.

Start with your image or layer that you wish to fill.

Zoom all the way out.

Go over the image using the free select tool.

If you go over it enough, it will look something like this.

Edit -> Stroke Selection
Make sure to click "Stroke with a paint tool."

Go over the emptier spots with the paintbrush and you're done.

That's a very interesting thing to know. Not sure what I'd use it for, but I shall file it away in my mental "toolbox of techniques". I can see how it would be especially useful with pipe brushes like the sparks brush. It essentially turns them into a random pattern.

I am moving this to official.

A very interesting technique... but on slower machines, it takes just as long to do this as it does to just brush around manually...

Hmm, good idea, with other brush pipes, your right, it would save time on larger images.

Stashed away in my mental bank :w:
