[*]First take your sig that you want your boarder on:

[*]Next make a path where you want the edge of your boarder to be.

Posted Image

[*]Fill a new layer with Nonclayto's Brushed Metal tut(http://www.gimptalk....=483&f=8#P_2954) then use path-to-selection and clear the inards to reveal your sig underneath.

[*]Add a bevel with thickness of about 3 to the boarder layer.

[*]Alpha-to-selection your boarder layer and grow by 1-2 pixels. Create a new layer and fill with black.

[*]Grow selection another 1-2 pixels and fill with a color that goes with your sig's color scheme.

Posted Image

[*]Yay, your done! Please make changes in these steps to fit your application.

Hey, I provided a link and changed the order in the brushed metal step.

And Luktar, I got the idea for my boarder from you, I just added my own style to it. I made another one slightly different :

the "trick" i read about tech borders is to only have 90/45 degrees angles.

and i notice some of your lines is not straight horizontal. use snap to grids.

Yeah, I was doing mine quick so they aren't the straightest lines ever...

I like the beveled one better for sure!

You have to have a new layer selected and/or your new layer is above your metal layer.

What you could do is create a new layer and fill it with black. Then Alpha to selection your metal boarder. Invert the selection, choose your black layer and hit Ctrl+k. That should work...
