I finally gave it a shot. I've been saying "Oh, I'll do that userbar tut when I get the time." LOL it couldn't have been easier! Firefox, you're the best!

Also, I kinda cheated with the scanlines. I went to do the scanline tut, but THE critical image was gone. :( I mean the one where you show the pattern on the 6x6 canvas. I substituted the video 3x3 distort instead, not perfect, but still pretty good I think...

Nice tut. Little things like the scanlines and highlight overlay are just the sort of things that can really help those of us who haven't been doing this for long.

Here's what I came up with (sans scan lines).

Where it says your layers, there should be a little box somethere that says Normal. Click on that, and change it to Overlay.

Ok on the black part around the text... I don't understand that part? That's not what comes up on my screen... I think I have a different version or an updated one because my toolbar looks WAY different.

@Jaron: Could you post a picture of what happens, or describe it? I'll just double-check you're doing everything correctly:
1. Type out your text in the Visitor font mentioned, in white.
2. Right click your text layer, and click 'Alpha to Selection'.
3. Use Select>Grow, and grow it by 1 pixel.
4. Create a new layer, and put it UNDER the original text layer.
5. Fill in that selection with black.
6. Select>None.

Tell me if that works. :)

Moko, yours would be even cuter if you shrank the render just a wee bit and then animated it to have the eyes blink...sort or your trademark, yes?
