Saving as GIF always lowers the quality. There is nothing you can do about it. Its just what the format does.

You can do something. If you downloads PhotoFiltre, you can make your picture to GIF whithout get a bad quality

AWESOME Guide, very cool. Here's what i made with your guide:

When I try and paste it in it says *access is denied*...*this file is already in use or is damaged*

Something like that can you help me?

EDIT: I got it to work...I just deleted old patterns file then I made a new one, and put them in there because I didn't use the other patterns anyway.

I notice you don't tell people when to make layers. This really made me mad in the end where it shows a bunch of layers that you made, and i've been trying to get the black border around the text right for days now. otherwise it's a good tut. so am i supposed to make a layer for every step? >.> :?:

The tutorial is great! I've got a question, though, about the general process of adding a 1 pixel border around your text, as below.

The process above is good if doing it just once, but I'll have to apply a border to THOUSANDS of separate texts - how can I speed it up rather than following the below instructions?

------------------

Quote

With the font Visitor TT1 BRK type out with a font size of 10, what you want to say, in white onto your userbar. Move it about untill you are happy.

Right click on your text layer and choose "Alpha to Selection"

Posted Image

Now create a new layer and place it under the other text layers. Call it something like "Black".

Posted Image

Then go to Select ---> Grow, and grow the selection by 1px. Then bucket fill it with black.

--------------------------

To repeat, my question is, suppose that I'm going to be doing this a LOT - a lot of text in different locations, or perhaps something like making a lot of these userbars and wanting to keep the same text and I want to add the 1 pixel "border" around the text every time. Is there a way to do this faster?

IDEALLY, all the text, as it was typed, would show up with the 1 pixel border as it was typed. A close second to the ideal would be the ability to apply the border to every single piece of text on the page with a single click.

A third best solution would be the ability to apply the border to individual pieces of text with a single click without having to go through the process of alpha to selection -> new layer -> select -> grow -> fill.
