Hello,I'm new to using GIMP and was stuck on the part:

Let's animate it:

Go to Video | Duplicate Frames (I used 19)

Now, Video | Move Path and use these settings. Make sure you set the "Layer Stack" number (Blue Highlight) to 1. This will sandwich the highlight layer between the sig inside & sig outline layers.

"where do I find "video" option to complete this part?

Could someone please help me while my GIMP is still open and ready for this video step? :s:

When you say cut out and paste as new layer, where do ya go to do that and also, where do ya go to do the highlight thingy. I have Gap now on Gimp Thats the only part I'm stuck on :s

XHotGoddessX, in the step where fencepost tells you to make a selection and then shrink it, you would then go and select Edit | Cut in your image window follow this by selecting:

Layer | New Layer (and accept the default Transparent layer). Click OK.

Then select Edit | Paste

Then Layer | Anchor Layer (to anchor the pasted selection into your new layer)

That takes care of the Cut and Paste part of your question.

The highlight thingy that you have mentioned, what fencepost wants you to do, is open up a new image window that is the same size as your Background image. Make sure that it is a Transparent image. You can do this by selecting the Advanced Options section in the window that opens when you select

File | New from either the main gimp window or an Image window.

For the Fill In section, choose Transparency.

Then using your Gradient tool, and making sure the gradient type is set to Foreground to Transparent, with your Foreground Color selected as White (see fenceposts image in the tutorial). You then drag inside of this "highlight" image window as fencepost shows in the tutorial image. Fenceposts highlight image shows black with white, but it should just be a transparent image with the white section I believe. Been a while since I followed the tutorial, but since he mentions transparent, not sure why it shows black in the tutorial.

Hope these extra details help some. :h:

Hey I'm having a problem with your tutorial. Plz help.

problem: The highlight is going over the whole image instead of just the 3 pix border, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong :s:

^ Thats cool. I did this tutorial last week on deviantart! So easy, and I think the problem with the highlighting is as my hightlight, I move the top layer (which is the highlight), and add it as my second layer. Thats what I did.

Oh and guys, note for later, if you delete all but 1-13 of the frames, it goes in a perfect cycle and doesn't slow down at the left edge.

^ My outcome is an example.

isohunter,

What fencepost means is to create a folder on your computer where you are going to save all of your animation image files to. You can name the folder whatever name you want. Maybe you want to name it "Animated Border Highlight" or maybe you want to name it "My Border Animation" or really whatever name you choose. Having one folder to store all of your files makes them easier to keep track of when doing the tutorial.
