Is there anything like the warp tool in photoshop available in gimp?? Or do I have to make a selection and use the path tool?

I don't remember the warp plugin in ps and what it does, but in gimp in image menu \filter there is Iwarp that is a plugin for warping...you can try it

Not warp plugin, warp tool, it is used to deform shapes using nodes.

I have a feeling that Gimp does not have an exact equivalent. The closest thing is probably Iwarp (Filters>Distorts>Iwarp).

The Curve Bend filter can perform something similar, although it is limited to one axis at a time (it does, however, permit a more complicated curve along that axis).
Everybody makes their own fun. If you don't make it yourself it's not fun, it's entertainment.
