Pyro, if you make your own render, you do have to erase everything by hand, or use layer masks, or the quick layer method, to make the render initially. But then you can save it as a png, and make sure you uncheck the save background box. If your render is on a pure one-color background, then just select by color and edit it clear or cut before you use it.

Whenever I paste my render on, it has a huge white backround I can't get rid of. How do I make it go away so I don't have to erase the white backround and make the picture look erased at some points?
I think after you select your render, before you paste it into a new layer paste it as a new image first then use THAT image to paste into your new layer...maybe?

very good use of pop out effect. Also, I like the lighting, the render and the background have the light coming from the same place, and that makes the whole sig look good.

Hey im new to gimp, when i go to canvas resize and put what youve put it doesnt do anything, but then i noticed under where you put the values for X and Y on your screen shot it says 72 dpi, and mine says 72 ppi, is this the reason for my problem and what does it mean?

Not your traditional siggy background, but I thought I'd share. ;)
