First of all please visit the HP above.
Question No1: In the Tutorials you will seet the part "This is your second image. It contains a blurred copy of the first image [Gaussian Blur (IIR) 8x8]. It should be greyscale.(It is right of blured "Love" whith black background.
ª
Does it mean open a new Untitled-1.0 window by doing File/New?
Not a new layer?(This question is similar to the former topic.)
If we get a greyscale image we need another Untitled-1.0window.
The problem should be solved before moving to the nest step.
I would very appreciate if someone explain the part including the former topic problems.

"Open a new somethng" means " a new layer".
If we open a new image by doing File/New,we will not be able to doing lighting effects with a gold texture.

Now I am following the HP above.
1.Create a new image(File/New) and fill it black and type with white "Love".
Then merge down a letter layer and a black back ground.(Even though it was not written.BUt if not do it, we can't create the first image as shown in the HP.I named the first layer as "layer mask " to understand easily.)
2.Then I duplicate the "layer mask " and bulured the layer.I named "bulured text".
3.Create a new layer (In my case, a transparent layer) and make a gold texture as shown the Tutorial.Concrete procedure is in the HP.
http://www.home.unix...imp/golden.html
4.Then create a new white layer above the gold layer.
5.Active the gold layer.Do an
Now I am confused No4's procedure.I don't know what purpose of it?
And the place of creating a new layer.
It is not wiitten? above the gold layer is OK?
My bumped "Love" is different from the tutorial's image as shown the HP.
My work is darker than the Tutotials.
I don't know what is wrong.

I have followed the instruction above.
Now I am ready to add a layer mask.right click/Add Layer Mask.
When doing it,which layer can I right click/Add Layer Mask?
My current layer stack is as follows.
4.a white image with no letter.just a white canvas. (why it is needed?)
3.gold background which was bump-mapped.
2.black background and white letter, which is blured.
1.black background and white letter.
Please tell me the number(4.3,2,1).
(I don't know why there is a white image.I don't know the purpose.I just follow the author's instruction.)

I struggled with the bumpmapping at first and still do but I did find a good tutorial here @ the Gimp site http://www.gimp.org/...als/The_Basics/. Of corse in this Tutorial you can choose to use a gold background rather than the plasma they use!
