If I were you I'd remove the scanlines and alter the border a bit though.

I like the effect, its simple but turns out nice. Here's my stab at it, I think I got a bad randomization or something cause I had a heck of a time getting rid of the completely black parts. But this is what I got.

Nice tutorial. For some reason it reminds me of a few BF3 backgrounds. I might give it a try today.
