Hi everyone.

I am in desperate need for help. I jsut got gimp, and I am using it to make wallpapers for myself and my family. I have a few pictures of my favorite baseball player and I would like to make myself a wall with them, but they all have a watermark on them. I would generally try and find pics without the watermark, but I can't find anything because he is not a big name. I would like to know if anyone knows how to remove the watermark from the images.

I understand WHY they are there, but I am not going to use these images except for making a desktop for myself. Can anyone help me??? :s:

On the first image, if you're only going to make a big thing with it, I don't think you need his legs if you're making something small. So you could probably just nevermind the legs if it's not something big.

I think the easier way is
1) select the script with quickmask or path tool (selection don't need to be too accurate ,just little bit bigger than the watermark will be fine )
2) use the clone tool on the script

It's seem quite easy in both pic find good sources for the clone tool

I just found a really interesting tool that would probably get rid of the watermark, but I haven't had much of a chance to play with it. It is called the resynthesizer, there is a plug-in (which seems to work, but I haven't quite figured out how), and three script-fu's, all part of the same package. The one that would really work well, I think is something called "Smart remove selection." The major drawback is I am not sure if this would Work in windows or not, it may be Linux only.

As i recently mentioned in another thread, Watermark Master enables to remove watermarks from images and videos. I'm not sure if the produced images will look fine, but nevertheless you can try it. Utilization of WM may be a bit easier way, because there you just need to specify the area where the watermark is and WM will do the rest without assistance.

Can anyone tell me how to break into a bank vault?

I'm not going to use the money I steal for anything illegal.

The most reliable way is to get a degree in banking, get hired at the bank, then work your way up the ladder to gain access to the bank vault. If you have a guy in security you can try to get away with taking something, but it would largely depend on the bank and how it tracks its inventory.

The use may be harmless but these images from http://www.gettyimages.com have a water mark exactly because they do not want you to use the image this way. A photographer took those pictures, they are a part of their portfolio and how they make their living. You can buy them fairly right there. This is the photographer's choice and is no different from any work of art. If you can find the photographer, they might be willing to give permission, but removing a water mark for being cheap is not cool.

Sometimes it can be a vague line between theft and fair use - making fan pictures off images found on the 'net could in a way be considered "advertisment" for the party in question. You can't really claim that when there is a large watermark right there telling you explicitly that you are not allowed to use the image though. This is the kind of stuff that could in principle get GT in trouble. Removing the pictures and hoping people keep this in mind.
