Well, this is my first post, first attempt at a sig, and the fist time I've ever used gimp for that matter. I'd say this tut was the most helpful, although I think I did pretty well for a first attempt, and owe that to alot of information all over these tutorial pages :) Soooo...

Watchall think? I had some rough screenshots to start with for the characters, only uploaded a few, and couldn't resist not making it for having to wait a day.

Im not sure if this goes here or not, but Im pretty new to gimp, and yes, I did read and understand both of the path tuts. Now that we have that out of the way, my issue:

After I delete the background from the image, and I select copy and paste, it only seems to paste the outline of my render, and the background, but not the actualy picture of the render.

Sorry if this is extremely newbish question beyound measures, but its really starting to make me angry, and we cant have that, now, can we? :w:

You must after pasting the image save it as a new layer.. When you paste it into the image you are working on it is pasted as a floating selection (should look like marching ants, marching around the selection). The cut out will not appear in your new image until you right click the floating selection layer and save it as a new layer. If you select the floating selection layer and double click it you can name it and it will then appear in the layer stack as a new layer.

Thanks FP, this really helped. I previously was using the "magic wand" (fuzzy select) tool, which work well for most images, but some are too blended to use that method. So.. thanks!

When I try to invert it, it just outlines the border but not the image. Anyone know how to fix this?

Once your path is finished you have to convert it to a selection first, which will be around the object where you made the path. Then you have to invert the selection which will move the selection to everything else. It sounds to me like you've just converted the path to a selection, but didn't invert it. Once you get the main selection, then hit Ctrl-I and see if that changes what's selected.
