Here's a little tip to help you out with PS filters that won't work with GIMP's PSPI.exe (Filter Plug-in). Not every filter is guaranteed to work, but it might be just what the doctor ordered.

Enjoy!

Here's a note from the Irfanview Read me file that may help you run some filters that wouldn't previously work. This solution does work as I was able to run the Wave filter on a machine that would not do so previously.

8BF_FILTERS: allows IrfanView to load (normal) Adobe Photoshop 8BF filters.
Note: some older/special 8BFs may require additional system DLLs:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Msvcrt10.dll
Plugin.dll
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Copy these DLLs into your Windows->System or System32 folder.
You can download these DLLs here:

Have you read the tutorial that I posted? The answer is no to smudging. However, PS has some filters that GIMP doesn't work with. This solution may or may not work with all filters, but I've found it to be an acceptable use for the filters I need. I suggest you take a look and then ask questions.

I've edited the main thread with a note about getting older filters to run in Irfanview that might not have run before. There's a link to download the required dll's. Hope this helps. This solution does work as I was able to run the Wave filter on a machine that would not do so previously.

Youre all traitors :P

No, kidding. I'll stick with the good ol' GIMP filters, I <3 them but this is really nice for those that have a PS filter that cant work fence.

just a note...also gimp(Not only irfanview or Xnview ) need this 2 dll to use the oldest PS plugins

Msvcrt10.dll
Plugin.dll
In win XP they must go in C:\windows\system32

Withouth that dll you will recive at any gimp loading error messages (and more you an't use the filtres)
