These were originally shot on conventional black ans white film and hand printed in the darkroom I don't have any longer. Can't remember what the film was, probably Tri-X developed in Rodinal, for those of you who know about such stuff. The third image was printed using "the panty-hose technique". You take an embroidery hoop and stretch one or more layers of women's hose across it, then wave it around under the enlarging lens while printing, softens the grain.
The first image was gimp-ized, and the second image is the straight scan. Doesn't really show, but the original is quite grainy...due to the Rodinal, I am partial to grain sometimes.

The shots were also taken in a dark bar (it was the house band) with a bounced flash unit...I used the "white card" technique popular with newspaper photographers. Camera was a Minolta Maxxum with a dedicated TTL flash unit.
