I made a banner for my forum and when I saw that a lot of people want to know how I made it I made a tutorial
Ok so That's the final effect we are looking for.
I don't know how to make a planet but you can add one if you want.
1. Start with a picture 1000 by 200 filled with black

2. Go to filters>noise>Scatter HSV and put all the settings to max.

Click OK

3.Go to filters>light effect>G-flare and add a distant sun at the top right-hand corner.

4. now make a new layer and name it text (transparent)
5. Now type your text somewhere in the black space but not over the distant sun like so.

6. Use the eraser on opacity 20 and brush over the text a little bit so it looks like that.

7. now make a new layer and name it g-flares
8. take you gflare filter and put some g-flares around.

9Now go to the layer window and click on the g-flares layer and make it the sixth option (can't translate it)

10. Now you should have somethng like this and you are done.

Well for the first post Look at the top of the tutorial. We are making not that good looking banner for the forum. Check out

For the secont post no but I made my own ones for the thing I needed them. Anyway thanx for the comments.

I made a banner for my Guild Wars Guild, but I didn't go by your tutorial. Your's is pretty easy and is for the more newbies to GIMP. But keep on doing what you do!
