Hmmmm...wonder what happens if you put the vectored image on top of the original and play with the layer modes...or what about blurring one or the other and doing the same thing...

check it out....
THE ORIGINAL IMAGE

MY VECTORED IMAGE IN FRONT OF ORIG BACKGROUND

Also, I didn't use the magic wand and just fill in, I actually drew the selections with the path tool. I did this a while back so I didn't follow the tut, but this tut is very good!
Also, the original .xcf file is here PART 1
PART 2
PART 3
Also, I guess I should explain, it's in 3 parts because the file was getting rather large so I had to merge a couple of times.

Sorry for the double post, but I just realized that the wheels are in another file. I'll post that file up also......

Except for a bit of jaggies...looks almost identical. If there were some way to anti-alias the edges of those vectors, seems like you'd have a real car!

Yeah this was my first one, I think I would do it a bit differently now that I know more about GIMP in general. I wish I could drive it into the sunset!!!!! :l:

That's the whole point, fugly...it is so close to the original. Not all vectors have to look like cartoon images.

I don't know about that, that Clooney vector really took me for a ride! You did an excellent job with it. I'm gonna have to try doing people now! :l:

I think this tut should be in the official tuts section. This is great! Curly I know you said not to do actual people but thats the reason i looked at this tut, so i took on the challenge.

Since I painted red over the jersey, I just used a sports font and put his number in the middle.

ooo, nice job. but what i mean by vectoring real people was meant in terms of complexity. like doing all the shadows on his jersey, and his face. :w:
