wow ... neat tut ... i got an advise on ur next add-on ... dunno ... maybe will look better on the sig ... when u blend in the text try to give it an extra shade .. by duplicatind the text layer ... alpha sel. ... and then with a soft brush ... brush smoothly (pref. at a brush transparancy of 25 - 50 %) where u want to be the shade .... then overlay (or use other blending ways : soft light and others ) and i say will look better ... how u blend the text has a giant touch ... just try it ... imagination counts ;)

Great tut. I'm still fairly new to Gimp lingo even though I've been using it for about a year. Sometimes I figure things out on my own with pure luck. I always wondered how to get the glowing text! Thanks for letting us know.

And thanks for your other tips. It was very helpful!

how to you do this part?

Then set this layer to either Overlay, Soft light or Screen. Whichever looks best on your background.

i looked under the layer tab and right clicked the layer for options but didn't see any like this.

Hit CTRL+L, then look at the options where it says "Normal"

What is the font on the "lucky bastard" one?

HEHE! I liked this. Yeah, I know most of it already ... goodness knows I experiment with text more than I do with anything else! *text can be aggravating sometimes, makes me want to tare my hair out* :P

But yeah, this is excellent for newbies so they learn text placement and what's a good choice vs. a bad.

Great job! :D

Really simple, yet really attractive. Great tutorial, text effects are hard to come by, although I did one (you can find it at http://www.gimptalk....t=24855&start=1]). Posted Image
pixkid@macmini~$ open -a Gimp.app
bash: you want fries with that
pixkid@macmini~$ echo No thank you, I am on a diet.
bash: you make me feel unloved with your excuses
pixkid@macmini~$ echo What? Are you insinuating that I do not eat your food? When did shells ever execute commands relevant to cooking?
bash: shells duh ever think of seafood
pixkid@macmini~$ echo No fair, stop searching puns, you have Lynx and Google to use!
bash: ugh you humans are so annoying
bash: logout
