Almost forgot to post it here.

You have all probably seen that gradient map thing on alot of PS sigs as a method of coloring. Well, I will show you that on GIMP.

-First open a sig(or make one). Make sure it is merged(or flattened). I'll just use this one.
Posted Image

-Then desaturate it.
Posted Image

-Result.
Posted Image

-Now duplicate it. The easiest way is from your layer dialog(ctrl+L if not opened)

(pressed button)
Posted Image

-Select the top layer if you haven't already.

-Set your foreground color to 290a59 and your backround color to ff7c00
(this is a common PS gradient)

-Now Gradient Map it.
Posted Image

-Result so far.
Posted Image

-Set this layer to color.
Posted Image

-Your finished result.

:D Have Fun

Additional Notes and thoughts:
Make sure the gradient setting is set from fg to bg. It will do what ever gradient you choose. You may choose to set it to something else depending on gradient like dodge or whatever. You can also do different ones and set it to a less bold mode like dodge to get a cool effect.Hmm,not my best sig either,oh well. Works cooler for the tight :w: c4d sigs(dont flame).

Tips:
It is highly recommended that you play with the setting to best fit your sig, IE opacities, colors, number of gradient maps etc.

Cool, I'll be giving this a quick try :)

It seems logical to me ... mind you, logic has become very tenacious just lately. It still has hold of my leg.

Looks nice, even though it looked better before the gradient map, hehe.

Yea,works better with c4d abstract looking sigs. You see it all the time in ps tuts.

I wish the final result image loaded. I would love to see how it turns out before I spend the time following the tut at midnight.

That's a very useful technique.

I've been actually trying to get something of that sort working for quite some time.

Thanks for sharing! :l:

I followed this tut from you to try and emulate that Damn photoshop look (just to prove that GIMP can do it) and here is my result:

Posted Image

This is without desaturating it first, and lowering the opacity right down on the Gradient layer. Also with the mode on soft light as apposed to screen

I prefer this methof of colouring to many others, but it works best as part of a large clump of colouring layers.

Looks cool. You probably don't have to desaturate,I just haven't got too much into it. But its an awesome coloring method. Does my name look that much like curly's :c: ,or rather :l:
