So apparently copyright laws don't apply to you?

No. Besides, its a free photo in the public domain.

Rather than questioning the morality a more pertinent question is
Why does resynthesize not work for the OP? Just checked on a LM12 installation. Gimp-resynthesizer is in the repo. It installs and works with Gimp 2.6.11 also from the repo.
It is in the Filters -> Enhance menu as smart-remove / smart-enlarge.
More info required from OP, start with versions LM & Gimp? How was resynthesizer installed and where?

Logo and watermark removal is not okay on GT. The watermark is put there just because the creator wanted people to know who did it. We are usually lax when it comes to using things like game characters and the like for signatures (one can consider it to be sort of advertisement for them, maybe), but outright logo removal is plain theft. I know I would not be pleased to see people remove my signature/logo from my images with the argument "just ban logos". :(

@kazz:
If you say this image is put in the public domain, then fair enough -- there are libraries of images you are indeed allowed to use. Also, using the image for your own private wallpaper is okay -- but we as a forum can never be sure you don't plan to for example re-sell it as your own. Copyright laws do apply to you while you choose to be on GimpTalk. Watermark removal of copyrighted images is stuff which could in principle bring the site into trouble.

Yes, you are correct as well. It was not the intention to do harm. and its strictly for psersonal use. But I was frustrated after hours trying to get it to work, I resorted to the easy way.

I did the repo. I even uninstalled gimp completely, So i dunno wich versions. I tried manual install as well of resynth (1.0 was all i found I think)

Could it be cause its a Dutch Gimp I have and the plugin is not translated or something?

Being on the internet DOES NOT mean it's in the public domain.

I suggest you learn the laws, not just repeat what you wish it to be.

Most of the time, if you can't help someone with something, the next easiest thing to do is criticize.
