Remove glare from lights and flash

I often get photos back that are pretty good except for some glare usually from my flash but also from lights.

I created a DropBox folder with two such examples. Can someone show me how to remove the glare? Step-by-step instructions would be appreciated.

That level of glare cannot be removed completely. You can reduce it a bit using "Hue/Saturation" tool to reduce brightness and saturation. You can also mask it off by cloning some other image parts over it with the clone tool.

But on the whole it's best to make a picture without glare. Choose the right angle of view. Don't use a flash or put a diffuser in front of it.
