[Tora.Silver]

This is my first ever TRUE project in GIMP! It's a signature with Itsuki, my favorite character from the Haruhi Suzumiya series.

How I Did It:
I took the image of Itsuki from here, and pasted it into my signature. I used to magic wand to remove the white from around the image. I added a violet gradient behind him in a different layer. I then typed the text in a separate layer, and gave it a light yellow border in a separate layer, which I gave a Gaussian blur. Lastly, I added a light yellow border by selecting all, shrinking the selection by a couple of pixels, and inverting the selection.

My Thoughts:
I don't hate it, but I don't like it. I'll use it as my signature anyways, for the simple reason that I'm new and I don't have any other one, but I think it's too bare, and the image quality is too low.

It looks like the border layer is underneath the dude but over the text. I don't know if that's what you were trying to do, but I feel it looks worse becaues of it.

Oh! You're right! I didn't even notice it, but I thought it seemed a little... off somehow. Thank you for noticing that.I fixed that, as well as moving the image and text, and applying a less severe blur to the text.

Hm...
I think you should find a better render. The one you are using is extremely low in quality.
The text is a no and the background could really use something more. The render looks as if it isn't blending with the background at all. There is a lot of work that is needed. Sorry.

You should probably check some tutorials. I think they should help.

Looks pretty good man. Try out some tutorials with brushes, they'll make the signature flow nice. ;]

I like how you didn't just spam brushes or used a stock and added text.
The background matches the render and is pretty original for a beginner.
Download a few resources, like greentunic's fractal pack, and perhaps some C4D's.
Overall, not bad, just too basic.

Oh man, I love Haruhi! Itsuki is my favorite character from anything ever(even though Yuki is a close second...)

Resources? Like, add-ons for GIMP? I didn't know those existed. I've been using it as it was when I installed it. Where can I find them?
