I thought I would download the latest version but what a mistake that was. Gimp 2.8 is useless on windows. Is there any way to get 2.6 back?

Thanks very much.
They should take down 2.8 for windows before too many others find out like I did that 2.8 isnt ready for prime time.

It works reasonably for plenty of people. The 2.7 unstable versions and 2.8 release candidates have been around for while(*), and these errors were not reported... Bt I agree they should have left a pointer to the 2.6 version...
Some interesting figures from the gimp-win download statistics on sourceforge:
2.8RC downloads; 50K+
2.8 final: 1.5M (about 50K downloads/day currently)
2.6.11: 27M!!!!!!!!!!!
