I must be the only person in the Gimp Universe who is having problems with Gimp 2.8. I have scanned as many forums and groups as I can before posting here to see if I could find a resolution.

So my problem; version 2.8 crashes on start up, will not load and I can only close program through task manager.

See sample of error message here: http://greentouchpes...start-error.jpg

Thank you advance to anyone with a resolution to this problem.

Get zlib1.dll from somewhere and put it at C:\Windows\System32.

And never opt for an easier solution.

Hi Solartide,

I did a lot of trouble shooting before i posted to the forums, and that was one of the things I tried.

It did not work.

The problem is that Gimp finds zlib1.dll twice: In the gimp folder and in C:\Windows\System32\, remove the one from C:\Windows\System32\ and try starting Gimp again - it worked for me...

Note that my builds do not write anything to the system folder etc. So, easiest way to get Gimp working is to get it from my website - www.partha.com.
