Hello guys and gals :) before i start this, i dont know if this belongs in the *spam* section or not..if it does please accept my Apolagies.

now than, this question came to me after i've read gimp vs photoshop bullcrap saying photoshop is best bla bla bla and more bla at the end...afew photoshop users said they call tell a signature was made from gimp program...is this true? i thought to myself theres NO way anyone can tell if it was made from gimp because as you know gimp and photoshop are *just about* the same with graphics wise all like that.

soo i tested their claims out and posted a challange..too see if any photoshop user can indeed tell the diff, well the findings are that they can not tell any diff....heres what i did.

I took the same tag that was made from each program, set them side by side and let them pick out which signature or *tag* was made from gimp.

i want you guys input on this issue...can a photoshop user can infact tell a gimp user made tags? they also claim that with gimps *LQ graphics and such* is easy to tell this..since GIMP program is a Noobs tool...which infact burns my butt when they said that BS. i had photoshop IT GOT boring..used photoshop 4 darn years i know my way around the thing..BUT it lost its fun factor and joyness..the reason people BUY and make fail claims is well..its simple really...its THE brand name...in their own little world most photoshop users thinks if its not photoshop..everything plain sucks.

Please forgive me for such a long long comments i wrote and again if this belongs in the spam section please forgive me.

You usually can get the same result in Gimp and PS, even if sometimes it's harder in Gimp. There are cases where the 8-bit limits of Gimp show up (some photo processing, bump-mapping...) but I don't think this applies much to sig art.

Eye to eye you really can't tell a difference, the only way someone would venture to guess them apart is by skill level, since generally most people beyond Gimp specific sites do use Ps. So on a forum it would be easier to tell, but if you honestly posted two sigs, and the gimp sig was better quality and skill wise then the other, i will bet their pride will slip and vote for the better tag :) So all and all if its night under a microscope like ofnuts said, in sig making there really is no difference, just different set ups and tools available in each program for an end result :D

Hope that helps

there has been many tags I've made in gimp that people thought were made in PS. Right now, I use photoshop because you can produce better quality images easier...however...I could create the same thing in gimp. Everything depends on skill level/experience with a program.

The main thing I notice with gimp/PS is gimp loses the image quality a lot more than PS when you scale a image or use a filter.
