Erasing

Hi, I need a little help on how to erase on one layer and have the other layer showing through. I beleive I have Gimp 2.6. But I am not sure. Could I have some help please? Thanks for the help :)

Right click the layer in the layers dialog, choose "add alpha channel"

I have tried that and it does not work! And I tried the backround and 2nd layer and it is still not working.

Well, have you tried erasing on the second layer instead of the background? Perhaps this tutorial on layers can help you: http://gimpedblog.bl...s-lesson-3.html
