Making Clipping mask First ever tut :)

hello yall, this is my first tut ever i hope it helps you in your art/sigs.

first open your image or sig or whatever, make a new layer make it transparancy

take any brush you want, but what works best is splatter brushes, now brush where ever you want around your image/sig, i'll post a link to the splatter brushes down below.

next remove the eye on the top layer next goto edite copyvisable, next goto top layer right click on it scroll down click alpha to selection. now click on the same top layer and get the eye back. now goto edite paste iknto than you're done! PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT FORGET TO ANCHER IT DOWN!

Am I missing something or does this do nothing?

I followed the steps to a T and all I got was an applied image layer. Which I could have gotten through right clicking and selecting "new from visible"
