Attached is a .PNG portion of a scan. It was a B&W (two-tone, not all grayscale) and it looks very speckly and just dirty.

Does anybody have any tips about how to make text scans like this look better? Thanks as always.

"Filter/Blur/Gaussian blur" (9px) followed by "Filters/Enhance/Unsharp mask" (3.7/5.0/0.0) gives surprising good results for the effort:



But a grayscale scan could have looked better and would have given you more data for any post-processing.

Thanks again, OfNuts! I'll work with this and, for the future, I'll make sure to get grayscales.
