This is easily the best method I have found so far for retouching skin and textures in GIMP. Using wavelet decompose you can work on the different frequencies of features in an image independently and with unparalleled control. Check out the tutorial here!

A nice tutorial, patdavid! I like that you don't <I>remove</I> the pores with this technique (something which gives a very synthetic feel), but merely tones them down. Nice result indeed.

Thanks! I like to approach skin retouching with a light hand as too often the results can quickly turn muddled and fake looking...
