Text Decor Need Text help

I see a lot of sigs and tags where the text is decorated with simple dots or lines like the one in this tag tutorial.

Can anyone tell me how to do that?

well you could also us the rectangular selection to make square selections. Not that it's easier. It's not that hard to line them up, you just got to have patience. ^^

Or use guides, and turn on snap-to-guide. ::)

I would make a square selection. Make sure the size is right. Then Control+, to fill with foreground color. Now duplicate this layer, use the move tool, press arrow keys to move it down a certain number of pixels (count in your head). Now use bucket fill, and fill this 2nd block with a new color. Now duplicate that, move it left the same # of pixels, and bucket fill with the 3rd color.

Or just zoom in, use a square brush, and draw 3 dots that line up. Not hard if you're zoomed in close.
