I got a question... I have the GIMP 2.2 and I added the brushes from here: http://www.deviantar.../view/12311264/

I added them in the brushes folder. Though when I refresh the brushes... they are not shown... I am relatively new to the program and brushes. Is there a reason why this is happening?

Unless the brushes are specified as GIMP brushes, they won't work unless they are first converted using the abr2gbr plugin discussed elsewhere on the boards. Also, some Photoshop (*.abr files) and Paint Shop Pro (*.jbr) will not convert. Only the older ones will.

That said, check out the resources section and look at all the posts concerning brushes. There are some excellent links to sites that have abr and jbr files that can be converted. I've also created this excellent tutorial (*pats self on back :w:) and another brush creation tutorial (*tries again to pat self on back, but over stretched rotator cuff last time :l:)

Let me know if you still have problems.

BTW, welcome to the boards!

Here is a pic of my brushes that I can use and the brushes in my folder.

As you can see, the ones that are from devianart.com are showing up there but not under the brushe menu. I refreshed the brushes but it still dosen't work. Any reasons why it is doing this?

I don't have any thoughts right off hand. Have you shut down gimp and restarted? Also, make sure you don't have more than one brush folder. That happened to me when I first started with GIMP and GIMP was not finding the ones I wanted. I moved all the brushes to the same folder, deleted duplicate folder, and pointed gimp in the right direction.

Glad that helped! I found out I was getting new folders created everytime I updated GIMP because I was also using the most recent GTK+. Ali told me that you don't need to update to the new GTK+ everytime. I haven't since then and haven't had the problem reoccur.

Hi, LoneWolf.

I'm not sure I understand your problem. You open up an RGB format image, but the brush is saved in gbr format. That's about all I can explain without additional information.

Hello Lone Wolf . Try Flattening your image (Image>Flatten) than saveing it as a .gbr. If that doesn't work try Flattening and save it as a .gih file.
