Too bad there's a limit to how long topic titles can be.

And this tut isn't for beginners. The better of a smudger you are, the better your outcome will probably be.

1. Sure.

2. I said the smudge brushes used in the tut. For the first part, I used a 19px circle brush at 90% rate and .2 jitter. The next time, I used the same settings, but with a 30-35px brush. And the third time, I used the same settings, but at 50% opacity.

3. I didn't really explain how I smudged, and it's almost impossible to explain, the best way I could show how I smudge would be with a video, which I can't do. My only advice is to keep practicing your smudging and to use short, quick strokes that don't drag. You want to make short, quick clicks, not big long ones. Maybe posting what you got when you smudged might help? This tut is more for advanced people, definitely not for those who don't have tons of experience.

Hope I helped.

I would try to get more contrast and highlights/darker areas going. I'd also get rid of the text and lower the opacity of the sharpen layer.

Not too bad.

I started this by doing your tutorial. Didn't folow till the end, because I didn't feel like finishing it. I was too disappointed that I can't smudge. So it's not finished!

Don't worry about it. It looks good so far, smudging just takes practice.

Just remember next time to make quick, small, controlled smudges, not long streaky ones.
