I'm a 23 year-old Australian (male if you hadn't have guessed from my pseudonym) with a background in Psychology working as a research assistant at the moment.
I got into computer graphics years ago when I was in my early teens making some very dodgy website designs and editing everything I could find on the computer. I plugged away at Paint Shop Pro for years before giving Gimp 1.2 a run and have been using it ever since. I hated it at first but have come around to it especially since Gimp 2's release.
I don't get quite as much time to do it as a hobby anymore with work and other committments, but I do make the occasional website on the side for a bit of supplementary income.
In my spare time I like to hunt cd stores for interesting music, teach myself electric guitar (likewise to Ali, i'm not much good :w:), try out imported beers (maybe too many too often), or just do nothing much.
And that's me!

I'm sort of new here; this being my first post, whereas I mostly just read ;)
I'm cough30 years old from New York. My background is in mental health but currently am in telecommunications... okay so not much has changed haha.
I went to a school for business computers and learned more of the secretarial type of duties and less of the design type of course work which I turned out to thoroughly enjoy. Gimp was recommended by a friend after I had expressed some frustrations with Paint Shop. Searching online for tutorials, I happed upon Gimptalk and find the tutorials to be written well and very helpful. Thank you for that :-)
There's a long ways to go for me, so there will be no showing n' tell for a long time. hehe.

I'll think you'll find this to be a good bunch. From what I can tell, we run the gamut on age. I'm 37, so us "old-timers" will just have to make sure we stick together and don't let these "little kids" think they can run over us :w:
I encourage you to continue to review and post when the feeling strikes. Don't feel ashamed about letting us see your work, that's all part of development.
Glad you're here.

I'm still "tweaking" my gimp. Thanks to all of you, I learned I can add a bunch of goodies and even make it look different, how fabulous! After I get comfortable hehe.. I'll pick a simple tutorial and try it. Layering seems to be the bane of my existence but I'm determined. If I have some time, I'll try something tonight and post it here! I'm so excited now hehe

Well, my name is Eric W., and im possibly the youngest member here, 16 ^^.
I started my graphic life with a program called Microsoft Image Composer 1.5, a now obsolete program, which never really went out to market XD. I received it from my now ex-girlfriend, Debra. I must admit, it wasnt that good, but it got me around for a few years. I then came across GIMP, while it was still in v1+. I couldnt understand it much, so i dumped it. Right then, i started to draw on Oekaki Boards. I then figured out how to use brushes, so i redownloaded GIMP, which was now v2+. I started to incorporate MIC with GIMP, but soon not even using MIC. It took me almost a year to finally get to my state of graphicness xD (is that a word?).
Starting in September, i start my Junior year of High School, and i start taking a Graphic Imaging class at the local Technical center since i had many classes open this year. Hopefully, this will open me up to new programs and achieve new skills.
Well.......thats all of my rambling...xD

:l: ok just having fun. My name is Jake and I am 28. I live in the USA( if you couldn't tell by that funny flag under my name on the left there). I am currently trying to obtain a MCS (masters of computer science). I have a wife, a kid and all that fun jazz and yes I am addicted to Gimp. I stared my grafix life many ages ago in a land far far away. I have never had any formal training besides a basic art understanding, reading alot of tutorials on the net and alot of wasted hours playing arround with programs. I have designed two websites which funny enuff both business went bankrupt and I never got paid.
Other than that hello all!!
