Kittens Splash Sprite Tutorial
Step 1

The first step is to make a gradient, using a dark color from your sprite and black. Pretty easy.
Step 2

Now we will need to make a new transparent layer. Paste your sprite in. Now duplicate the layer five times. Make the top four layers unviable and select the bottom sprite layer.
Step 3

Ok, so on the bottom sprite layer, go to filter>noise>pick. Set both randomization and repeat on a high setting. Hit ok. Then your sprite should look like mine.
Step 4

Make the next layer above your pick layer visible and select that layer. On this layer you need to go to filters>noise>spread. You need to then unlink the numbers and make the vertical higher than your horizontal. Once you’re done hit ok. Remember the bigger your sprite the higher that number needs to be.
Step 5

Now choose your third layer of your sprite. This one you will need to do filter>noise>spread again. But this time make the horizontal higher that the vertical.
Step 6

Now were on the fourth layer of the sprite. On this layer you will go to filters>distorts>Iwarp. Warp it however you want. Then set this layer's mode to overlay. Erase what you don't like.
Step 7

Make the top sprite layer visible. Erase any thing from the other layers that you don't like.
Step 8

Make a new transparent layer, and move it above the background and below all your sprites. Take a splatter brush and paint it with the color you make the gradient with. If you don't have any splatter brushes just google for some.
Step 9

Now duplicate your gradient layer and move above everything. Set the layer to lighten only.
Step 10

Sometimes the sprite will blend into the background to much. In that case duplicate your normal sprite layer and move that to the top of all the layers and set it at a low occupancy.
Step 11

Add text, borders, ect.
And you’re done
