Welcome to my second ever Tag Tutorial for GIMP. I realize that my last tutorial was submitted probably a little under a year ago, but that does not matter, because today we are going to lear how to make, my tag known as "Over the Hills and Far Away." :) This tutorial will be heavily based on Conman's "Wanted" tutorial at the very beginning, but it isn't exactly like his.

Alright, now first, what we want to do is start off with a canvas of about 400x135 pxl in size. So, let's get that out. I'm pretty sure I don't need a picture for you.

Alright, after we have our canvas ready, let's past in a city stock. Preferably a dark city stock. I tilted mine so that it adds more flow. Then duplicate that layer. Use a GREYCstoration filter (google it to download the plug-in) on the bottom layer. Sharpen the top layer by 30 and set the top layer to Darken Only.
Posted Image

Next, paste in a different city stock onto a new layer. Flip it and move it around until its light source is on the same spot as the other city stock. Then, apply a gaussion blur of about 30 and desaturate it. Set that layer to soft light. Then add a new layer and fill it with white and set that layer to soft light.
Posted Image

Next, paste in your desired render onto a new layer. Move it around and scale it until it follows the flow of the BG we just worked on.
NOTE: Right now, the colors may not match very well. Don't worry, we'll deal with that later.
Posted Image

Next, go to Layers>Add From Visable. Now you have a new layer with everything you've just done merged into one layer. Now, let's get your smudge tool out. I chose the vine brush and changed the spacing to 1 and the rate of the smudge tool to 100. Smudge around your render. Erase what looks bad, (Preferably over the chosen focal) and set that layer to Lighten Only.
Posted Image

Now, make a new transparent layer and let's use a black soft-circle brush. Leave the scale at 1.00 and brush around areas of your tag that you wish to darken. Set that layer to soft light.
Posted Image

Now, paste in that first city stock you used before and move it around until you can map a specific effect you find on the stock and map the effect as close as you can to let it flow from your render. Set that layer to Screen at 85% opacity and erase all but the effect. For me, I saw a lightning effect at the top of the city stock that I used.
Posted Image

Now, do another "Add from visable" and set a B/W Gradiant map on that new layer. Erase on the side of the focal that is opposite of the lightning effect that we added in in the previous step. Set that layer to Overlay at 30% opacity.
Posted Image

Now, do another "Add from Visable" and let's get the smudge tool out again. This time, change the rate of the smudge to 50 and keep to the vine brush and the sae spacing we used before. Smudge around where we added that lightning effect and then erase the bad.
Posted Image

Now, let's add a new transparent layer. Get your brush tool out again and choose a desired brush and make them white and you can smudge easily. I used a few flame brushes. Just click where the brushes will flow the best Then switch back to your smudge tool and use the vine brush again (same settings as the previous step.) Smudge the brushes you just placed down ina way of which they will fow with the rest of your tag. Now, duplicate that layer and set the original layer to value at 20% opacity. Keep the top layer as it is except erae a little bit of it.
Posted Image

Now, make a new "Add from Visable" and do another B/W gradiant map on that new layer. (Make sure your foreground color is black and your background color is white) Erase where you just did those brush effect and set that layer to Grain Merge at 30% opacity.
Posted Image

Now make another "Add from Visable" layer and duplicate it. Flip the duplicate layer horizontally and hide it. Now, run a displace filter on the original and set the X and Y to the flipped duplicate. Delete the hiding flipped duplicate layer and erase the bad off of the displaced layer. (Mainly over the render and a lot over the BG. Make sure to keep some of it in a way that it keeps to that flow.)
Posted Image

Now, let's add in a C4D onto a new layer and set it to Screen. Make sure that it's placed in a way that it retains that flow. Erase the bad.
Posted Image

Now, do another "Add from Visabe" and get your smudge tool out again. Choose a hard brush and keep the spacing and rate settings at default. Smudge around like a retared monkey, but make sure you keep to the flow direction and don't smudge too much. Erase the bad, expecially over your focal and a little bit over your effects and BG.
Posted Image

Now, repeat that one displacement step that we did earlier. Remember to erase the bad over the render and over your BG.
Posted Image

Now do another "Add from Visable" and darken some areas of your tag that seem less important by using the burn tool.
Posted Image

Now let's add in a splatter clipping mask. Make sure it flows. (Don't know how to do a clipping mask? Google it.)
Posted Image

Now do another "Add from Visable" and duplicate it 5 times. This way you have 6 of the same layer. We're going to add some flavorfull gradient maps to this tag now. Let's start from the top most layer and move down to the original. I'll name the colors to use, then the opacity mode and then the opacity percentage.
Blue to Yellow at Color-30%
Green to Blue at overlay-30%
Blue to Orange at Screen-15%
No Gradiant map at Value-20%
No Gradiant map at Screen-15%
No gradiant map at normal-10%
Posted Image

Alright. Do "Add from Visable" Now let's set some scan lines in. Here's the way I do it. I go to Filters>Distorts>Video. Choose the 3x3 one and then erase over the render and the clipping mask and some over the rest of the BG. Set that layer to 30% opacity
Posted Image

Now, do another "Add from Visable" and duplicate the new layer. Run another GREYCstoration on the original and sharpen the duplicate by 30. Set the Sharpened layer to Lighten Only. (Same as the first step except for the opacity mode.)
Posted Image

Then, do another "Add from Visable" and go to Filters>Distorts>Erase Ever Other Row. Leave the setting at normal. Now, erase over the focal, the effects and the clipping mask and some over the other scan lines. Set that layer to Overlay.
Posted Image

Do another clipping mask with a different type of brush. I chose a fusion brush. Make sure it flows!
Posted Image

Now, do another "Add from Visable" and shaprned the new layer by 30. Erase everything except for the Focal and the Splatter Clipping mask.
Posted Image

Now, do another "Add from Visable" and use a gaussian blur of about 2 on the new layer. Set that layer at 30% opacity and erase over the render and over anything else that should appear as if it is close to the viewer.
Posted Image

Alright! We're close to being done! Let's add another "Add from Visable" layer. Duplicate it. Now, run a Light-grey to White gradiant map on the duplicate layer and set that layer to Screen at 15% and run a black to white gradiant map on the original layer and set it to Overlay at 30%.
Posted Image

Now, this is optional, but you can add another "Add from Visable" layer and flip that layer horizontally if you want.
Posted Image

AND YOU'RE DONE! Now, you can add text or a border if you wish. I chose not to add to mine because I thought it best without text and a border.

Good job! Make sure you credit me if you use this tutorial to make your own tags.
