Is there an easy way to remove flash glare using gimp, as in the following picture

at the bottom, obviously.

I'd remove the whole white line, if I knew how to do this...

Thanks

Hi demiurg, Yes there many ways to get rid of the flare. I suggest you look at some beginners tutorials about selection and basic color manipilation.
In the following picture I did a lasso select and used the color slide tool to bring down the white values. Total time about 2 minutes. Other methods would be "cloning" after selection, careful painting over with other colours, selection and colour fill. smudgeing. The same methods can be applied to the white floor edge--- select and pattern fill/smudge or clone.
NB It is a nice picture with mood, so don't cut out too much flare or white. A bit of flash keeps the picture "alive" and an action shot.
If it was my picture , I would leave a some flare sparkle (just my opinion though) . Good luck!
