Hello All,

I am a fan of both Blender 3D and Carrara.

Here is a comparision made between these 2 powerful but low cost 3D programs.

>>> Blender vs Carrara comparison

I hate Blender, and even I can tell that the review is plainly lopsided in favor of Carrara

Ermmm...

Actually Blender is not so bad... albeit somewhat unconventional though..

I really like Blender. I haven't tried, or even heard of Carrara

They don't compare-Carrara is not FREE. The review is biased towards a commercial software product which would have commercial support etc. I would prefer a comparison between free open source software products only. Eg: Blender and Truespace, it would be way more worthwhile.

is not even only a problem of money, what is relevant is not only the price but the possibility to hack, or to find hacks to adapt the SW to your need

For that there is no competition...nobody except the Carrara developer may hack Carrara,... everybody may try to hack Blender, and several already did for several reasons (as example to realize some movies)

so you may compare a Carrara that may satisfy your needs but that can't be modified if not, and Blender that has a official build but offers a lot of (less official) variants

/agree with newt, the review seems incredibly biased.

TrueSpace 4,5 was not free $500.

I have played with all the 3D app's.

3D app's take a long time to learn and get good at.
and to make anything in.
you need a 3D crew to get any where in a resonable amount of time.

for solo Artist ZBrush is the best.
