well, just found this forum. I was looking for information on creating brushes in gimp, and I think that link lead to me here.. or something. mysterious are the ways of www.
not much yet talk going on, but I hope it will get busier.. how old is the forum?
I posted this here, as I didn't find a better general talk section, but to be more on topic, here's some of my latest: http://www.kulma.org/smu (images are imagemapped, so find a link in them to go forward)
keep on gimpping!

Most welcome to GT
Thanks for the kinds wishes.
The domain was registered few months back, but functional forum was installed about 2 or 3 months ago and is added to searh engine about 1 month ago. It is just a start, to provide a very easy to use environment for gimpsters to discuss gimp related issues.
btw : the layout seems to be too unique, for the usres who visit such layout for first time, cant understand, are the abstract drawings on each page doen in gimp ?

Hi Basse!
I love your creations, beautiful, really! I like the mystery around it. Just frustrated there weren't more. or did I miss a link? Will try again!:-)
What kind of brushes do you want to make? If I can be of any help?
Gimp abilities are underexploited. Seems like programmers have implemented a great format with animated brushes, and nobody uses it! So go, create brushes! We do need some more and better brushes, especially animated brushes! I'll try to do my part also ;-)
Cheers!

I just tumbled upon your other site. It's rare to find a true creator in times where ugly 3d dominates the internet. You seem tu use 3d more like a way to sculpt your ideas. And your drawings are truely amazing! I simply love your style!
I have bought a wacom as well, some monthes ago, and I do not regret it! It's not been long until I've found very easy to draw with it.
Nice to see you work a lot for Open Source softwares! :-) Even Tower Toppler! :-)
All the best!

so the forum is still a newborn :) .. that explains. let's hope it will grow..
I know it's hard to navigate on those.. but it's supposed to be like that.. when I get more up there.. you get more easily lost.
those drawings are all done in gimp.
pascal:
thanks. there will be more. I just started on those, so every now and then when I have a bit of extra time, I try to do more.
about the brushes.. I was actually looking for information on creating them. I had a little problem with animated brushes, but got that thing sorted out then. and now they move as I wanted.
but, if you know, you could tell me how to make animated brush so, that chosen drawing color affects to them, that would be nice. the animated brushes I did work, but they paint only black color (or whatever I used when I did them)..
(oh, and I work _only_ with open source softwares. :) )

Basse,
Some tutorials:
http://adrian.gimp.org/gimppipe/
http://gimp.org/tuto...s/Image_Pipes2/
Yep: before saving the brush as .gih, convert your image to grayscale (also be sure there isn't any transparent pixel).
I've experimented a bit and found that you can have up to 1000 images, and up to 100 for each "dimension". For example, I made some brushes which follow the drawing path by rotating each layer (the top layer looks up, then rotate clockwise) and specifying "angular" as a dimension. Tried that with 8° and even 4° increments (45-90 layers).
There are some fine results with random rendered layers, not too dark is better. There are some fine render filters in Gimp, and make use of "filter all layers".
Don't be afraid with to add as many images as you want (though it may take some time). Gimp has no problem with complex brushes, I use to make some very complex ones (angular+incremental) with 900 layers!
Once I'm ready with a little serie, I'll post them here. :h: (this might take a while)
Cheers!

Ya forum is new born and one of the network sites of swish-db, so will be populated soon, much more quicker I hope. Acutally there are few people that I know of, who use gimp, and they are not that good at it, but struggling to learn it. I hope we make it a good and easy to use community :h:.
btw : Me too, I mostly use OpenSource Software, please see followign link if you have time, I posted that few months back (that is about opensource):
