Gimp for Windows crashes when creating new image

ModVer: 2.6.6.0 Offset: 0004117d". It also gave me a long list of technical information that I was unable to copy and paste, and it would take me several hours to type into this message. I was practically unable to recover the technical info. Why is it crashing? What can I do about it?

----comment message below----
If your install of GIMPShop 2.2.8 on Windows XP crashes in
libglib-2.0-0.dll try these steps:
1.) install GIMPShop in its own folder, say 'C:\Program Files\GIMPshop' 2.)
go to C:\Program Files\GIMPshop\bin\ and remove these files:
libglib-2.0-0.dll libgmodule-2.0-0.dll libgobject-2.0-0.dll
libgthread-2.0-0.dll 3.) install GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version
2.8.18, for Windows 2000 and newer)
This should force GIMPShop to use the GTK 2.8 libraries. It seems there may
be a library versioning conflict between the included GIMPShop GTK
libraries (v2.6) and the newer GTK (v2.8) libraries that are already on a
system. (Say from having a full blown GIMP v2.2.12 install or DIA or other
GPL program that uses GTK.)
Note: if uninstall/reinstall GIMPshop v2.2.8, you may also need to
reinstall GIMP. It seems the two apps are not cleanly separated and will
walk over each other if you remove one or the other.

I had this problem for a while, I fixed it by increasing the tile cache 400mb, instead of the default (64 iirc - its been a while)
this is what mine looks like, and it hasn't crashed since I made these changes. Keepin mind I have 1GB Ram, so you would need to adjust for you system.

I have tried un-installing, removing all of the data in the Application Data folders etc, re-installing.
HERE is where it gets strange.
If the users:
1. Launches a file associated with GIMP, GIMP then crashes
2. Launches GIMP, then tries to create a new file, GIMP then crashes.
3. Launches GIMP, then opens a file, GIMP works, and is then able to create a new file
Any ideas?

1 and 3 make me think to a problem with gimp remote that often don't work very well on windows
but 2 ...hum ...it's doesn't fit so well...i mean you launch gimp , you try to create a a file and it crash?
About solutions
1 be sure to break any file association with gimp most sure way to do it is install irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com) i:s one of the best viewer and converter (nothing to do with the poor windows fax and image viewer ...it's really precious to organize browse and convert in other format and even for quick corretions
usually it make more sense associate all graphic files to a good viewer then to a editor...so you can browse and convert almost any kind of file or even see your image as a slideshow( on the fly ..and could be saved)
(NOTE in theory to change file association you just need to right click on a file and then chose a program to associate...however this in win usually never work when files were associated with gimp,
2 be sure to get the right to see HIDDEN AND SYSTEM FILES (start\search\ advanced search\show hidden and system files) then unistall gimp and gtk...after unistall manually delete anything left (gtk folder is usually in C: Program Files\commun Files \Gtk)
3) Then reinstalling AVOID any file associations (gimp don't need file association to open files...and most of times associate a graphic editor to something as jpg,gif or png is much more a nuisance then a advantage)

Right, it is a GTK version conflict. Thanks to the pointers from hkazemi above, I fixed it using these steps:
1. Install the latest GTK from http://gimp-win.sour...net/stable.html (in my case it was GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.10.6, for Windows 2000 and newer))
2. Rename 3 files in C:\Program Files\GIMPshop\bin\libglib-2.0-0.dll libgmodule-2.0-0.dll libgobject-2.0-0.dll to something else.
3. Copy the newer versions of the above 3 filenames from "%commonprogramfiles%\GTK\2.0\bin" to "C:\Program Files\GIMPshop\bin"
Now run GIMPshop, create a new image, and you should be fine. (no crashes)

I had the problem where gimpshop would crash everytime I tried to stroke a selection. The ModName: libglib-2.0-0.dll apparently causes the problem. I tried following hkazemi's steps, but now I get that ^ error message, everytime I try to open gimpshop, so it won't open at all
Can anyone please help? :s:

i think is a kind of miracle that somehow sometime it works, good luck
In case of other problem just install the real gimp may be the best soluction...also because is much more powerful, no match possible
