But it is simple to solve, just change your focus;
the subject is not the bluish part on the left, that is instead the BG
Once you descover which is the BG ,then the subject become clear:
in the darken part more at left you will see a Castle's tower and even its windows

was a nice edit but you should always focus on edit the subject not the BG (if not for blur , desaturate,or delete , all those operations on the BG for contrast make the subject pop out)
Editing with such attention and care the BG...you created a optical illusion were the bg grab all eyes attention ,hiding the shape and even the existence of the real subject

what you see 2 faces or a mug ?
Here eyes can't decide which is the subject and which the bg because the lack of details and depth of both
Adding appropiate details or depth to the "faces "(eyes ..lips ..) or to the "pot "(some pot decorations..or even just a fill with a convex texture )will immediatly vanish the illusion
