Oh, I see it now. You're render has a black background. So either it isn't a true render, or you didn't post it on a transparent layer. Try putting it on a transparent layer and starting over. Good luck man.

Ok that advice helped greatly but now I'm stuck here:

"Deactivate the quick-mask and clear selection (Ctrl + K) on the top layer then Gaussian blur that layer by 3."

I can deactivate the quick mask but when I hit ctrl+k nothing seems to happen. Any ideas? BTW I greatly appreciate you helping me through this.

Thank you Quenistil, and no problem Tyroto.
The newest version of Gimp no longer sets clear to the Ctrl + K shortcut, so instead you have to go into Edit>Clear.
Your flames look a bit too linear to me, you may want to apply an extra pick filter to the top one, but besides that you are looking good. Good luck.

Hey there!

I'm new to this whole thing.... this board, the Gimp, etc :w:
So cool there's places like this and programs like the Gimp!

Anyways, first post in this place and here goes my "result" which is not really a result on what you guys have been doing, but does the trick i was thinking on :h:

i'll do a second try and i'll post it soon.

Omg awesomeness !! Pick is the best !! I have always loved it's effect !!! haha i am very happy with my results... I kinda changed the settings a bit cuz the fire was allready covering all of her hair on the side so i thinned it out a bit.. woootzz !!

Don't you get her mad---- you won't leik her when shez mad.......
