1) Open Gimp

2) Go to File>New> From there select the size you going to use,im going to use 450 x 150

Posted Image

3) Select the brushs that you want to use(if you used the tut and link i gave in my brush tut then you should have some) and brush till your happy with it

Posted Image

4) Now you can add color by using the gradient tool,if you want it all one color, just put the 2 grandient color the same.like so

Posted Image

5) With the grandient go side to side(if you want to have a color background picture, than open the picture, paste it onto the background, and then open the layer tab by going to
File>Dialog>Layers (shortcut- ctrl + L),and ancohor that layer),and now i have done that my background looks like this

Posted Image

6) now im going to add a picture to the background, since i dont have alot of time im going to use a psd(and yes you can use them on gimp),ok open the new layer, and follow steps

7) Now you need to shrink the size of some images(this one you do),so im going to go to
Image> Scale Image

8) This image has a height of about 1024 px,so im going to shrink it so it will fit on the background,im going to shrink it to about 350 px height, and then just click scale, and it should look smaller, now copy it and paste it onto the already made background, and it should look like so,dont do anything but move the picture!

Posted Image

8) Once the picture is moved to where you want it,go to layers agaian and select the floating layer, and make it a new layer,to do this right click the floating layer, and it should say some stuff, click new layer and you have a new layer

9)Now to blend it some you use the magic wand tool to select,it should look like so

Posted Image

PS: You can bighten it up and make it stand out some if you go to layer>color>brightness/contrast

10) no to feather it you right click a spot where you selected(empty space by the render)
Right Click>Select>Feather

11) Since gimp is diffrent than Photoshop,im going to feathear more than 15px,im going to go with about 40px,it is real hard to tell with this render

12) Once you have done that right click the area again
Right Click>Edit>Cut

it should look like this now

Posted Image

13) Now for some text,i am going download to some that fits subzero,(it is best to do it before you starts your banner,or otherwise you have to restart gimp so it load the text),i have my text made, and now im going to add a border

V1

14) 1- Ok,step one make a new layer( MAKE SURE IT IS ONTOP OF ALL THE OTHER LAYERS)
(Shortcut- Ctrl + L)
14) 2- Make it overlay,now select all(sc- Ctrl + a)
14) 3-Stoke it with a color black
Edit>Stroke Selection
6 px black line-solid

Now again repeat above, except when you stroke it,make it a 4px white line

Now agaian repeat 14-1 - 14-3
only this time a 2 px black stroke

Should Look Like

V2

just repeat all the steps above, just dont overlay the new laye, and you only have to make 1 new layer ontop of every other layer

er, easier way to blend a Render is to duplicate the BG, and set in on overlay over the render.

if it doesnt work right, change the colors, brightness, and opacity, or put it on screen on very low opacity and brightness, jes tweak all the settings.
